Drawings and paintings resulting from being outside in nature always reflect my experience of the natural elements as they were at a particular time, and the emotions these aroused. Trees, their twisting forms and interconnectedness with each other, their wisdom and age, their annual transformations, are a constant source of joy and fascination.
Walking through the countryside near my home or further afield on family visits, and discovering the world through work, travel and holidays are essential parts of my life.
Light and its many different qualities and effects on the leaves, flowers and landscapes that it touches, is an ever changing and frequently wondrous and beautiful thing.
Where I live in Scotland, the weather never stays the same for long. This can be a source of frustration as well as inspiration, but more often than not leads to visually spectacular shifts in cloud formations, sunlight, colour, rainbows and deep contrasts of light and dark.
